Corrupt Books

If you received a Corrupt Book error when trying to open one of your downloaded textbooks, please locate the set of instructions for your Operating system to resolve your issue.

Resolving Corrupt Books- Windows XP/Vista/7
The first troubleshooting step in fixing a corrupt eTextbook is to delete the book and download it again. The steps to deleting a VitalSource eTextbook are:
  • Locate the book that is corrupt, right click on the book, select "Open Containing Folder"
  • You will be taken to the Shared Books folder, and the book you selected will be highlighted.
  • Close Bookshelf
  • Go back to the Shared Books folder, delete the highlighted .vbk file.
  • Empty your Recycling Bin
  • Restart your computer.
  • Launch VitalSource Bookshelf and download the Book again.

Resolving Corrupt Books - Mac OS 10.5 or Later
The first troubleshooting step in fixing a corrupt eTextbook is to delete the book and download it again. The steps to deleting a VitalSource eTextbook are:
  • Locate the book that is corrupt, right click on the book, select "Reveal in Finder."
  • You will be taken to the Books folder, and the book you selected will be highlighted.
  • Quit Bookshelf.
  • Go back to the Books folder, delete the highlighted .vbk file.
  • Empty your trash.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Launch VitalSource Bookshelf and download the Book again.
