Bookshelf 5.4 Release Notes - Windows

  • Brand specific startup splash screens.
  • F6 and Shift-F6 can be used to quickly change focus between main UI elements in the Bookshelf window. Typical main elements are the collections tree, book list and book details. On first launch, main elements are the collections tree and initial sign-in view.
  • F6 and Shift-F6 can be used to quickly change focus between the current navigation view (Table of Contents, Notes List, Terms List or Figures List) and the book content.
  • Caret position is displayed in XML and PDF books.
  • Preference to hide or show the caret position in books. By default it is visible.
  • Default to not showing the text caret in books. Turn on ArrowsMoveInsertionPoint if the text caret is enabled via the preferences. Change preference text to be a bit more specific about the effect of checking the preference.
  • Show the wait cursor while we load XML content. This provides an indicator that the app is doing something when navigating to a chapter that may take a few seconds to load.
  • Minor bug fixes
There are two types of installers for our Microsoft Windows customers:

The Standard Installer: contains everything needed to install VitalSource Bookshelf, and if needed will download all the components of Microsoft .Net 3.5SP1 that are needed to run Bookshelf.

The Combo installer: contains everything needed for installing VitalSource Bookshelf and everything needed to install Microsoft .Net 3.5SP1 in one container. The installer will not need to downloaded anything else to install Bookshelf on your computer. This installer should only be downloaded if you have had issues downloading/installing Microsoft .Net 3.5 SP1 through the Standard Installer.
