What are the system requirements for Bookshelf 4.0?
Bookshelf 4.0 for iOS requires iOS 9.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. You will need an active internet connection for library updates and Book downloads.
When can I get Bookshelf 4.0 on my iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch?
We are starting a phased rollout of Bookshelf 4.0 on November 27th, 2017. If you enabled automatic updates, you will receive the update within seven days. You can manually update to 4.0 at any point. Once you upgrade to 4.0, you will not be able to go back to Bookshelf 3.9.
Help! I forgot my password and the email address I used for Bookshelf.
I received a message that I reached my machine limit, what do I do?
You can authorize up to two mobile devices, which means that you can read your content on two different phones and tablets. For help with managing your authorized mobile devices, visit our article on Managing Your Authorizations.
I am not seeing any of the books I was using before upgrading.
Please contact support, you have multiple accounts with VitalSource, and we need to merge them for you.
Are my eBooks available without an Internet connection?
Absolutely! Once you download your eBook to Bookshelf, you can access the whole book offline. Any notes and highlights you make while offline will sync the next time you are on Bookshelf and have internet access.
Does 4.0 support the iPhone X and iPad Pro?
Yes and yes. Bookshelf 4.0 will look great on your iPhone X and 12" iPad Pros.
Does Bookshelf have a read-aloud feature?
Yes, Bookshelf has read-aloud built-in. Bookshelf 4.0 makes it easier than before to adjust the speed and change the voice used with read-aloud.
Is anything missing?
Highlighter Management, the ability to create, edit, and adjust sharing preferences for highlighters will return to Bookshelf for iOS in a future release. Until then, please use Bookshelf Online for any Highlighter Management.
We will also include Review Mode in a future Bookshelf release. Until then, you can utilize this functionality in Online Bookshelf.
