Access Your Books Offline With Bookshelf Mobile and Desktop Apps

Available for most popular devices, including iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, Chromebook, Mac, and PCs, each app is uniquely tailored to provide you with an optimal learning experience.
Launching With Bookshelf Credentials
Download the Bookshelf App that you wish to access. If you don’t have an account, you can create one from the sign-in screen. If you already have Bookshelf credentials, enter your username and password, download your eTextbooks, and begin studying.
For version 10.4 + you will need to have internet access to download the app and initially log on from a browser. Once the app is downloaded you will stay logged on. You can access your material offline once the download is complete. Please click update library if you are note seeing your material.
Please note while your app initially will need internet to download your material to access offline. If at any time you obtain additional books or notes / highlights please know that they will not sync to your offline library until you have internet access again
Launching from a Learning Management System
Many users launch Bookshelf via a link in Canvas, Blackboard, or another Learning Management System (LMS) without creating a Bookshelf username and password. If you access Bookshelf in this manner, you can still utilize our offline Bookshelf apps.

I Have Launched the App, Now What?
From here you can download books for offline reading. As you read and make notes and highlights, all your work will automatically sync across all your devices.
Download Your eTextBooks
Mobile App
In the Bookshelf app, click on the book you want to download while your phone or tablet is connected to the internet. Once the book has been downloaded, a small checkmark icon will appear in the top-right corner of the title on your library.
Desktop App
From the Mac or Windows Bookshelf desktop app, hover your cursor over the title you want to download and click Download Book while connected to the internet. Once the book has been downloaded, a small checkmark icon will appear in the top-right corner of the title on your library.
Note: All VitalSource digital material is in a DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected format, meeting our partnering publishers' requirements. The DRM is to protect the copyright, and we are not allowed to distribute digital textbooks as files to be used outside our Bookshelf application. Our Terms of Use outline this requirement by our partnering publishers.
